Abstract:
Objective To detect the relationship between the promoterhyperme thylation of O
6-methylguanine-DNA methy ltransfe rase(MGMT)gene and cervical squamous cell carcinom a in Uigur women.
Methods Forty-one tumortissues of cervical squamous cell carcinom a and 32 normal cervical tissues were detected with methy lation specific PCR(M S P)in Uigur women.
Results No hyper methylation of MGM T promoter was detected in all of the normal cervical tissues, but 13 were detected in 41 cervical squamous cell carcinom as tissues(32%).
Conclusion Hyperme thylation of MGMT promoter possibly involves in the tumorigenesis and is a frequent molecular event in cervica l squamous cell carcinoma.Hyperme thylation of MGMT promoter can be a potential tumor marker of cervical squamous cell carcinom a in Uigur women.
