Abstract:
Objective To develop and evaluate a quality of life instrument for benign prostatic hyperplasia patients (QLICD-BPH).
Methods Based on the modular approach (a general module plus specific modules),Chinese culture background, and the programmed decision procedure including nominal group and focus group discussion,an instrument was compiled and assessed among 141 patients with BPH.
Results The
r value of the test-retest reliability,
α value of the coefficients of internal consistency, and the value of split-half for the scale were 0.95,0.91,and 0.72,respectively.Analyses
Results showed good construct validity and good responsiveness, with the most of correlation coefficients between each item and its domain above 0.5.
Conclusion The QLICD-BPH scale is good in validity, reliability, and responsiveness and could be used to measure quality of life among Chinese patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia.
